Are you a recent high school graduate who is thinking about entering the workforce? Here’s what you can work on this summer:
- Start looking for a permanent job if you don’t intend to go to school or into the military. If you don’t have a permanent job lined up, sign up at temp agencies, which provide temporary workers if you don’t have a permanent job lined up. Once you do have a job lined up, ask about training possibilities and whether the employer pays for any college tuition for full-time employees — this will give you options in the future even if you’re done with school for now!
- Practice writing cover letters for your work applications.
- If you’re actually in college and like your summer job (and plan to come home from college for every break and holiday), take the college’s academic year schedule in to your boss to see if you can fit in some work hours over the longer breaks.
